Kite flying is one of the most popular sports and festival in India. According to the Greek literature, kite-flying dates back to as old as 14th century and later came to India and other Asian countries. Kite Festival in India is popular the worldwide and celebrated with great fun and fervor. Watching the colorful sky during the kite festival is indeed a feast to the eyes. Men's inherent wish to fly high and reach the sky would have surely made him invent the kite and fly it high, somewhere giving him the feeling and the satisfaction that he can fly and touch the sky as high as he wants. Kites are attached to a thread rolled in a pinball and flown against the direction of the wind. Kite flying is lot of fun but the real excitement lies in cutting in each other's kites. The more kites you cut the more expert you are. When comparing kite flying to business or management, there are a lot of similarities in both of them. A close analysis of all the aspects of both these activities reveals a very close connection between them. There is a lot to learn from kite flying – a common activity we ignore taking advice and advantage of in business or management. The similarities are as follows :Kite flying is not an easy task. Just like business, it involves various skill and talent to take the sky high up in the sky. The heavy burden of flying the kite could prove to be tiresome for any amateur trying it for the first time. In the same way, a new entrepreneur just entering the field of business has in front of himself a bag full of trouble. Overcoming them and establishing a company or firm of his own takes a lot of effort

 

When the kite is in the air and if we do not concentrate on it and look around then there are chances of kite being cut off by someone. So in order to save the kite from being cut off or try to save it then it needs full concentration on it only and nowhere else. The similar case is with the business, it needs full concentration on it to increase its profit rate. It needs to be concentrated on the quality of the goods, production rate, etc.. This is done so that the quality of the goods is better. Due to the better quality of goods there is more sales of goods as consumers are in demand of better quality of goods. This increases the level of profit. This is why the owner needs to fully concentrate in the business rather than taking it for granted or involving in the things which distracts’ and attracts the concentration of owner towards itself. This affects a business unit or a firm lot so concentration is must.

Many times it happens that the kite gets stuck in the electric poles or wires. It is better to leave that kite and take another one for our safety measures. One may get an electric shock or fall down from terrace in order to get that kite out from the pole. Same is the case with business, a firm should not get engaged into a sector which proves to give negative result of the firm. By getting engaged with the sector firm’s profit margin might start decreasing and the business might start run into loses.

Sometimes during kite flying day or when it ends, we are short of kites or we have large amount of kites left which are not flied. It is waste of kites and they may be used next year or will be thrown. So,there is wastage of kites and other resources like, firki. Likewise, business also faces with wastage of resources possible due to change in market trends. So, the leftover stock is stored in warehouses.

Sometimes when we are flying our kite, it happens that due to changes in weather, lack of concentration or kaccha string of firki, our kite might get easily cut .We not only loss kite but also some part of string from firki so it is overall loss. Likewise in business due to some circumstances like death, insolvency of partner(in case of partnership), due to some accident during production or distribution, strikes, court declaring activities of business as illegal, under certain conditions business could be at loss. Primary objective of business is to make profit, which is not attained.

While flying kite we love high air and freedom similarly in business we do everything to have high reputation and expansion in market and recognition as one of best business or industry with perfect management, recognition, products, growth and social service.

In kite flying there is direct relationship between effort and reward. More we work hard or make an effort we are rewarded with incentive as satisfaction by cutting others kites (in case of kite flying).The same is the case with business. There is a direct relationship between effort and reward. The more you work hard, the more are the rewards, i.e., more are the profits.
